Whistler's Annual Donor Drive is Underway!

Spring is here! Tulips are blooming, kids are playing frisbee on the Common, and somewhere, in some brightly lit rehearsal hall, women are singing dirges for Troy. As I write this, Whistler in the Dark is deep in the second week of rehearsals for our upcoming production of Francis Blessington's lyrical new translation of Euripides' Trojan Women. This exciting production, directed by Ben Evett, will finish up what has been our most challenging and rewarding season to date.

This season we have revisited the Bacchic invasion of Thebes, detoured into the whimsy of a doggerel version of Hamlet and the claustrophobia of an underground Macbeth, investigated three of Caryl Churchill's moving and thought-provoking plays, and engaged in a merry debate about fate and free will with Joyce Carol Oates. And now, we travel back in time to the fall of Troy. It's been a thrilling and packed season for us – and it absolutely would not have been possible without the support of our audiences and donors – in a word, without you.

Over the past few years, you have been an integral part of making Whistler in the Dark a thrilling theatrical endeavor. I am writing to ask you to help Whistler continue the work we have built over the past seven seasons by contributing to our Annual Donor Drive. We have set ourselves the goal of raising $35,000 to continue our work into our eighth season – and with your help, I know we can make it.

Despite the accolades and brisk ticket sales, Whistler requires contributions from our supporters; in fact, a large percentage of our annual budget is comprised directly from individual donations. We are committed to keeping our ticket costs low, because we firmly believe that price should never be an obstacle that keeps anyone from experiencing artistically substantial work. In order to make this work, however, we rely on the generosity of supporters like you.

No gift is too small (or too big!) - and we thank you profoundly for whatever level of support you are able to give!
